The Gentleman Wake presents the first offering of a new Cantrell A Priori brand (CAP) by Kevin Cantrell Studios; The Goldsmith Playing Cards, Cantrell A Piori Signature Series 001. Designed to mirror the cost and exceed the value of a monthly $33 premium playing cards subscription, The CAP Signature Series promises a new playing cards set with original design and execution every three months. With a goal to release 4 CAP projects a year. No obligation to purchase every set—only what you like. However, customers who preorder all four sets a year will be entitled to receive additional exclusive gifts that will ship with the 4th yearly project.

Elegant and ornate. Beautiful and luxurious. The Goldsmith playing cards pay homage to the father of the printing press, son of goldsmiths, Johannes Gutenberg.

Every set comes with one (1) Goldsmith black edition, one (1) Goldsmith white edition, one (1) Goldsmith luxury 24k gold plated commemorative coin, and one (1) real walnut carat case with magnetized high grade acrylic cover and coin holder. Only 1000 Sets will ever be produced.

The cards are printed by Cartamundi, in Belgium, on their slimline stock with B9 true linen finish and feature brilliant cold foil on the backs and faces and beautiful gold gilded edges ideal for extending the lifespan of the cards. The tuck boxes are printed by Studio Pression in France and feature premium foil embossing on the highest quality card stock. The walnut carat cases are branded on the back and are manufactured and provided by Carat Case Creations.

NOTE: This is a pre-order item. Pre-order products have a six (6) to nine (9) month fulfillment time from the closing of the pre-order window.

THE KING IS DEAD. LONG LIVE THE KING!

After a long two year journey, the next TGW branded deck project is finally here and LIVE ! The Successor, designed by Kevin Cantrell, with tuck boxes by Studio Pression, represents a long and unyielding commitment to create the most luxurious playing cards ever released!

SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EDITIONS EVER SEEN

Every edition of the Successor strives to be unique. We have a gorgeous (anything-but) standard red/blue pair that feature tuck boxes with 5 foil layers and deep sculptural embossing!

The fantastic Imperial Black Limited Edition continues the TGW tradition of including an elevated cards experience with stunning gold cold foil on the backs and both gold and silver cold foil accents on the faces in a stunning black and gold tuck box.

The glorious Monarch White Limited Edition is a true stand-out, featuring an impressive outer tuck sleeve that includes a substantial and beautiful relief sculpture entitled 'The Coronation' affixed to it and a simply luminous tuck box with 4 foil layers and deep sculptural embossing.  The cards within the box are just as luminous, adorned with cold foil on either side and gilded in gold to assure durability and beauty.

Continuing the TGW tradition, the Successor Dynastinae Rex Limited Edition is a gorgeous and different iteration of the Successor line.  Featuring an ambigram back design unique to the Dynastinae line, this edition includes a magnificent black holofoil and gold foil embossed tuck case with expertly-gilded cold-foiled cards.

Continuing the new practice, established by it's Tale of the Tempest brethren, the culmination of the Successor line is the Dynastinae PRISM Limited Edition. The most elaborate of the decks, the PRISM includes a 2-part tuck box with out tuck sleeve featuring a antique silver-toned relief sculpt.  The box is adorned in eye-catching silver holofoil and purple foil. The cards within will be holofoil gilded and feature gold and silver cold foil on the fronts and alluring prismatic cold foil on the backs.

Perhaps no one piece of the Successor line speaks to its opulence more than the Successor Sarcophagus. Weighing 2.8kgs or 6lbs,  the Sarcophagus can comfortably house one of each of the six Successor editions in a luxurious piano-black lacquered display box. The lid, held in place by rare-earth magnets, features a breathtakingly detailed sculpt of "His Majesty in Repose" in gold-tone plated zinc alloy metal.

The missing Wylenti Editions are homeward bound!

FINALLY! To those patient and understanding backers (those 60 or so of you) thank you so much for waiting. The missing Wylenti editions have left Gamblers Warehouse and are on the way (both decks and uncut sheets). If you want tracking info please contact me with a direct message or email [email protected] and I will get you the info. FOR YOUR TROUBLES,  I have instructed that each and everyone one of the affected backers receive a free Tempest Dusk deck. That will be in your package with your Wylenti deck(s).  Just a little show of appreciation for being so considerate and patient while we sorted out the issue. 

With that I can finally say that The Tale of the Tempest is FUFILLED and COMPLETED. Sigh. Now on to...

THE SUCCESSOR!

 The Successor Playing Cards Kickstarter Campaign is slated to LAUNCH MAY 24th at NOON (12pm) Eastern Time. Watch this...

Many of you who follow me on social media have no doubt seen the amazing preview images of the next TGW branded deck project, The Successor, designed by Kevin Cantrell Studio! 

This project represents two years of unwavering effort to create the MOST LUXURIOUS playing cards ever made. Tuck boxes with 5 foil layers (+1 interior) with sculptural embossing and, in some cases, beautifully ornate metal sculptures affixed to outer sleeves. 

The gorgeous cards are being printed by Cartamundi in Belgium on the slimline stock with B9 true linen finish, with multiple versions feature illustrious cold foil accents.

And the piece de resistance is this absolutely stunning deluxe box, The Successor Sarcophagus. Designed to contain one of each of the editions of the deck, the box features piano black lacquer finish, lasered metal inlays, magnetic closure, lined interior slots and a zinc alloy cast gold-tone plated lid sculpture. The entire package weighs a whopping 6 lbs/ 3kgs., with only approx 400 sarcophagus units available. 

 
The campaign is slated to LAUNCH MAY 24th at NOON (12pm) Eastern Time.  Plus we will be having a launch livestream event featuring Kevin Cantrell and myself and some amazing giveaways starting at 10AM Eastern on Launch Day (05/24/22)! Wylenti's ship is nearing port!

The remaining Wylenti Edition decks are almost in your hands.

Hello lovely backers! Super excited to finally announce that Lotrek has SHIPPED the Wylenti decks to the fulfillment centers. This will make the 60 or so backers who are owed Wylenti Decks happy to hear! I apologize for the delay--Lotrek encountered some issues sending out the decks including contending with a hack of hellenic postal system that meant he could no longer post international shipments! But luckily the decks finally made it out of Greece and will be in Germany/Texas soon. At which point they will go out to you. I'm instructing Gamblers and Deallez to pack a free Dusk or Ocean Tempest Deck for everyone still awaiting a Wylenti edition as a thank you for having patience and an apology for the delay. 

The Successor is close at hand! 

With the Tempest campaign officially laid to rest, it will pave the way for the birth of the next TGW brand of playing cards; The Successor designed by Kevin Cantrell Studio. We are hard at work getting the prototypes ready--we spared no expense in preproduction in an effort to guarantee a smoother production and fulfillment cycle for this next campaign. 

Below, you can see, The Successor Dynastinae Rex foil plate being engraved by Studio Pression in France. This plate will be used to print foil on premium tuck boxes.

In fact every foil layer has its own plate. On some successor tuck boxes that means 5 sets of engraved plates for the foil PLUS another for the interior pattern THEN there is an embossing and debossing plate set as well. The engraving machine uses .5mm, .2mm, and .1mm tools to etch an astonishing level of detail into the metal plates.

The Successor will launch in mid-May. Stay tuned here and on the TGW social media accounts and youtube channel for details of the official date and time of the launch.

Also we will be doing really great giveaways (of highly limited decks and prototypes) during the livestream happening at the launch of the campaign. Kevin Cantrell will be joining me to talk about his design process! It will be awesome!

Before the king, comes a gladiator!

Before we go, we want to bring your attention to an amazing project by friends of the TGW brand, Howard Fraser, Michael McClure and Brad Gabbard.  They've put together a fantastic series of decks celebrating the culture of the Gladiators of Rome. The deck is gorgeously designed by Brad Gabbard and there are several really amazing editions. Howard has been an ardent supporter of everything we've put out with a TGW logo on it and it would be great to help them get to their larger stretch goals by sending some of the Tempest backers over to them for a show of support!  Please back the LUDUS MAGNUS campaign here.  Images below!

The Successor is coming! 

The NEXT TGW campaign is well in the works and should be launching via KS sometime in May! Kevin Cantrell Studio has done a phenomenal job designing a deck worthy of kings! We have some amazing and intricate tuck cases--some of which feature metal cast relief sculpts as seen below!
